The Yellow B is now ISO 20121 certified
We are pleased to announce that The Yellow B has obtained ISO 20121 certification, the international standard for sustainable event management systems.
For us, this does not represent a change in direction, but rather the formal recognition of an approach we were already taking: creating events in which social, economic, and environmental impact is taken into account from the very first conversation with the client, rather than as a last-minute addition.

What Does ISO 20121 Mean?
ISO 20121 is the global standard for sustainable event management. It was launched in anticipation of the 2012 London Olympic Games, and since then it has established itself as the benchmark for organizations in the sector. It establishes a management system that helps identify the actual impact of a company’s activities—on people, local communities, suppliers, and the environment—and implement a structured, continuous improvement process to manage that impact.
It is important to understand what this certification does and does not entail. It is not a one-time audit or a certification that is obtained once and remains valid forever. It requires integrating sustainable decision-making into the way each project is planned, procured, executed, and reviewed, and demonstrating that this is done consistently across all events—not just those in which the client specifically requests it.
What’s Changing for Our Customers
In practice, this certification means that every project at The Yellow B now follows a structured sustainability framework, which translates into specific decisions:
- Supplier selection criteria that take environmental and social impact into account
- Waste Reduction and Material Reuse in the Production of Booths and Events
- Source catering, staff, and logistics locally whenever possible
- Measurable sustainability goals, defined and reviewed for each project
This also means that we can now report on an event’s sustainability performance with the same rigor that we already apply to budgets, deadlines, and creative execution. Sustainability is no longer just an aspiration; it has become another data point in the reporting for each project.
Why We Went After Her
Sustainability has increasingly become a key evaluation criterion for the brands we work with. It’s no longer just a marketing slogan—it’s a requirement for purchase. Achieving ISO 20121 certification provides our customers with verifiable assurance, backed by an external audit, rather than just taking our word for it.
Besides, it’s simply the right way to organize events these days. The industry has a significant environmental footprint, and agencies that take this seriously have a role to play in reducing it.
We’ll continue to share how this plays out in our projects. If you’d like to learn more about how we apply our sustainability framework to a specific event format, please contact us: we’d be happy to explain it to you.
